Buried in Flowers and Ashes

April 5, 2010

This weekend, I went with Miyuki to the burial mounds at Saito and the volcano in the middle of Kagoshima bay.  That being said, I’m not putting up any pictures of burial mounds or volcanoes.  Instead, I’m going to show you all the lovely flowers at Saito, and all the lovely ashes at Sakurajima.

The next picture is from Sunday’s trip to Sakurajima.  Residents of the town sweep up ash off the streets and sidewalks and collect it in bags.  The bags are then hauled away with the rest of the trash.
