Hani wha?

April 24, 2011

This has been a good weekend.  I did some farming out on Nagatomo-san’s fields, went to Starbucks, the beach, a couple of new parks, looked at a few open houses, went to the last Miyazaki Shining Suns game of the season, and played some frisbee and basketball with my friends.  All in all, a very good weekend.

One of those new parks we discovered on Saturday is the Heiwadai Park in Miyazaki City.  It is where they started the torch run for the Tokyo Olympics and there is a garden full of Haniwa statues.  Many Japanese legends have their origins in Miyazaki prefecture, and the story of the Haniwa statues is one of those.  I won’t tell you the story (because honestly, I don’t remember it well enough to tell), but please enjoy these pictures of some of the haniwa statues at Heiwadai Park.

  1. I am so glad to see/hear that you are safe..and well..

    • Thank you, James!
